What do you all think of myspace and the net in general as far as star-struck fans go? My husband and his band currently have an obsessed fan. There is a woman who desperately wants to meet my husband and sent myspace messages - we were kind enough to email a polite response back. She is not aware this it wasn't actually my husband and now tells ridiculous tales on internet posting sites about how he loves her and she talks to him. She still has her myspace page dedicated to meeting him even after she has been blocked and notified that any further attempts to contact the band or him will result in police intervention. Weird how she doesn't get it. I suppose it could be worse, she has no idea where any of us live and doesn't have phone numbers. A concert promoter got that info once and wouldn't stop harrassing until the number was changed. I would assume that other celebs have experienced this problem. How have you dealt with it?

The more famous the band is and your husband is...the more this will happen. Make sure that you and the family are protected. Do not make the mistake of thinking that you are safely hidden from someone who has made up her mind that he wants her. That is what several celebrities who have been harmed have said after the fact. Make sure to get some kind of protection for your home. Even if you get a basic home security package that has alarms on the doors and windows. You have to realize that people for the most part understand that your husband is just a talented man providing the gift of music to his fan base. Some people are ill and will think that he wants to be with them...because it makes their lives more interesting, etc. You'll have all kinds of people writing all kinds of things about him....but when it comes to obsessed fans who have emotional stability issues, your number one concern is to protect yourself and your family. Good luck with is career and with protecting your loved ones.

If her page is about meeting him but she doesn't try contacting him after she was blocked, there's nothing that the police can do. It isn't like she can't have pictures of him up because she can. So unless she tries to contact him again, let her have her fantasies, it isn't like they'll come true.

thats y i hate myspace! if u wanna chat with ppl, use aim, if u want ur own page, make an aimpage or a special signin book for ur friends!

People like that, it doesn't matter it's on Myspace, basically they're just crazy stalkers... at least it's not a stalker that knows where you live.
Even being vaguely famous gets you people like that. Basically just be clear that police intervention is the next step...and if she keeps going, actually do it...

When you draw a fan base, it is going to happen. You are going to get those obsessed, ill adjusted people who can't handle their feelings on a mature matter. I would say that most are harmless, but some you have to be cautious with. I feel you are handling the situation well, by contacting the authorities. Unfortunately that is all you can do. Try to ignore the less sane individuals. Don't have anymore contact with them and if any suspicious activities arise, keep contacting the authorities for you and your husbands protection.

I don't care for myspace and never travel there. Perhaps your hubby should delete his account for a little while and recreate it later. Of course that might be a problem for the band, huh? Perhaps you should simply keep a record of her writings so when she shows up, the police will have a reason to take her away. Be careful!!!
