As most of you know, I'm a huge MERLE HAGGARD FAN! I've been workin on a BOOK over the past year- A TRIBUTE TO THE LEGENDS OF COUNTRY MUSIC %26amp; DEDICATED TO MY HERO~FRIEND MERLE HAGGARD! I've been working with a ghost writter for over a year now and we are almost there...I could have had this done sooner but it's a SURPRISE sort of, so i couldn't ask for advice from any of my celeb friends in the business who already have books. What I need now is the TITLE FOR THE BOOK!
HERE ARE A COUPLE THAT I'M TOSSING AROUND..
(because i was born and live in Detroit)
"FROM MOTOR CITY TO MUSIC CITY"
"MEMOIRS OF A COUNTRY MUSIC FAN"
ALSO I PLAN TO USE MY BACKSTAGE PASSES AS THE COVER OF THE BOOK.
IF IT NOT ASKING TOO MUCH, CAN YOU GO TO MYSPACE AND SEE MY TRIBUTE AND THEN HELP ME COME UP WITH A TITLE???? http://www.myspace.com/okiefan
I'M SO SERIOUS ABOUT THIS AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP. THANKS IN ADVANCE

Actually, I really like your original thought and the first person's suggestion to use it in full with a subtitle is a good idea. I am assuming the book is not about Merle alone as you say it is a tribute country legends and you may laugh at this but one thing that came to my mind was something along the lines of..."If Haggard Were A County" as a tribute to Merle whom you so dearly love and maybe incorporate something along the lines of "If Haggard Were a County then friends and neighbors would be..." lol. Sorry, just trying to come up with something different but I like the idea of the subtitle memoirs of a motor city country music fan. You are obviusly very creative so I am sure you will come up with something great. Would love to hear when it is published; I am certain you have some terrific stories to tell.
*added....
Okie, that would be fantastic. You know, the more I think about it, it would be neat to have some reference to "backstage" in the title if the cover is going to include your passes..ie Backstage from Motor City to Music City?

I checked it out (and sent you a friend request) 8~) I like From Motor City to Music City or something along those lines. Or something to the effect of Yesterday's Novice, Today's Legend, Tomorrow's Cherished. Or Yesterday's Novice, Today's Loved, Tomorrow's Legend. Something along those lines maybe? I don't knowwww!!!! lol. No matter what you title it, from the looks of it, you've done a good job!! Just let me know when it comes out so I can get a copy!

I am so glad you are doing this. I can't wait to read it. I have been to your myspace page several times and I love it. As I can tell from your page, you have met many of country music's legends. I am soooooo jealous! I hope you are putting some of those photos in the book as well.
As for the title, I think you have some excellent ideas. Here are some of mine that I used from your ideas.
1.) A TRIBUTE TO THE LEGENDS OF COUNTRY MUSIC - "FROM MOTOR CITY TO MUSIC CITY"
"MEMOIRS OF A COUNTRY MUSIC FAN"
or just use 2 together.
2.) "FROM MOTOR CITY TO MUSIC CITY - MEMOIRS OF A COUNTRY MUSIC FAN"
I like both, but people might not know that you mean Nashville by putting "music city". I think combining both really lets people know what the book is about. And, as someone on here before me said, " From Motor City to Music City" really lets people see that you don't have to be from the country to understand and love country music (especially the classics).
Good Luck! I can't wait for it to come out.
p.s. I spoke w/ some of Blake Shelton's family and they had not heard about the Merle movie. He was in town a few weeks ago doing a concert, so maybe I can find out something. E-mail me if you have any new info on the movie, please.
